Job Description

We’re looking for a experienced Part-Time Dental IT Support Specialist to oversee the technical infrastructure at Onyx Dental. In this role, you will maintain our server and network systems, configure and troubleshoot remote desktop setups, and ensure our team can effectively use Dentrix and other dental software and hardware. You’ll also be responsible for performing routine maintenance, managing data backups, and providing helpdesk support to our staff across multiple locations. As a part-time position, you’ll enjoy flexibility in your schedule while still playing a crucial role in keeping our practice’s operations running smoothly. While initially a part-time job, we anticipate the role evolving into a permanent full time position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Server & Network Administration: Monitor server performance, manage network security, handle updates, and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Remote Desktop Support: Configure and maintain remote desktop environments, assist staff with connectivity, and ensure secure access.
  • Dentrix & Software Management: Install, update, and troubleshoot Dentrix and other dental-specific software; provide user support and training.
  • Data Backup & Security: Implement regular backups, maintain anti-virus and security protocols, and ensure HIPAA-compliant data handling.
  • Helpdesk Support: Serve as the go-to person for technical inquiries, resolving hardware/software issues in a timely manner.
  • New Office Configuration: Setup new office IT systems and hardware.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Previous experience in an IT support role; dental or healthcare IT experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Dentrix, electronic health records, or other medical/dental software is highly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Windows Server administration, remote desktop configuration, and general network troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of data backup strategies, security best practices, and HIPAA compliance.
  • Ability to set up and maintain hardware (workstations, printers, routers) and software in a multi-office environment.
